About the Festival
The multi-award winning Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster, set against the stunning East Kimberley landscape, is truly a bucket list ‘must-er’ for everyone to enjoy.
About the Festival
The Ord Valley Muster is one of Western Australia’s most iconic regional festivals, a multi-award-winning, world-class event that showcases the East Kimberley’s extraordinary landscapes, people, and culture.
Each May, the Muster transforms Kununurra and the East Kimberley into a stage for nine days of music, art, comedy, dining, rodeo, and cultural experiences. It is a true bucket-list “Must’er” that combines breathtaking scenery with authentic local spirit, making it one of the nation’s most unique tourism and cultural experiences.
The program is deliberately diverse, ranging from large-scale events, from the Kimberley Moon Experience, a “Dream Event”, through to free family celebrations like Party in the Park, intimate Indigenous-led performances, and unique tourism activations with local operators.
Over two decades, the Muster has grown into a cornerstone of the national events calendar. It is a three-time Hall of Fame inductee at the WA Tourism Awards (2008, 2011, 2017) and has continued to gain national recognition, winning Silver at the 2023 Australian Tourism Awards and again securing Bronze at the 2025 WA Tourism Awards. In 2026, the festival will celebrate its 25th Anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its journey.

A Milestone year
Celebrating 25 unforgettable years of the Ord Valley Muster
In 2026, the Ord Valley Muster marks its 25th anniversary—a vibrant celebration of the East Kimberley and the people who bring it to life. This special year will highlight the music, culture, stories and stunning landscapes that make the Muster unforgettable, inviting everyone to come together and share in a milestone moment for Kununurra.
To mark our 25th anniversary, we’re proud to honour the very first graphic created for the Ord Valley Muster, an original artwork by much-loved local artist Al Mason. Al’s design captured the spirit of the East Kimberley in its earliest days and helped shape the visual identity of the festival. For this milestone year, we’ve reimagined his original logo into a special 25th Anniversary emblem, celebrating both the creative legacy he left behind and the community roots on which the Muster was built.

WELCOME MESSAGE
FROM THE HON REECE WHITBY MLA; MINISTER FOR TOURISM HON STEPHEN DAWSON MLC; MINISTER FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
On behalf of the WA Government, welcome to the Ord Valley Muster – supported by Royalties for Regions through Tourism Western Australia’s Regional Events Program.
The WA Government has supported the Ord Valley Muster for more than 20 years and is excited to be a part of its 25th anniversary celebrations in 2026. This iconic regional event in Kununurra/Goonoonoorrang has become a cornerstone of Western Australia’s events calendar.
Each year, the Ord Valley Muster invites visitors on a cultural journey celebrating rich Aboriginal history through storytelling, art and performance, alongside popular music acts, comedy, cultural tours, unique dining experiences and a range of family activities.
The 2026 program features the return of much‑loved events including the Muster Rodeo, Corroboree Under the Stars and Comedy in the Park, complemented by new cultural experiences such as Colours of Country, workshops at Waringarri Aboriginal Arts, Stories, Stars and Serenity, and the Bush Botanicals Women’s 4WD Overnight Journey.
The Ord Valley Muster showcases the best of the East Kimberley, giving thousands of visitors a time‑sensitive reason to book and visit the region. These travellers inject millions of dollars into the local economy, deliver significant benefits to the local community and contribute to the WA Government’s broader economic diversification strategy.
We encourage all those travelling to Australia’s North West for this event to extend your stay and discover even more of the Kimberley – a region renowned for its ancient gorges, dramatic landscapes, towering waterfalls and rich cultural heritage.
We wish you a memorable Ord Valley Muster and a wonderful time in the Kimberley.
About the Organisers
The Ord Valley Muster is directed by the Ord Valley Events Inc, a group of community-minded individuals who bring skills, knowledge and networks to the organisation, collectively working towards producing a world class event series for the benefit of the broader community.
The Ord Valley Muster was created by the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EKCCI) in 2001 with the aim of bringing together community and industry participants highlighting the region’s extraordinary cultural diversity, unique landscapes and developing business opportunities with a focus on activities and the talented people of the East Kimberley. One of the event’s principal objectives is to promote a wide range of seasonal economic activity through sustained tourism development.
Originally formed as a sub-committee of the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ord Valley Events became incorporated in July 2009, and we have directed the Ord Valley Muster ever since!
